IntermediaryEd Taps Rachel Korberg as Inaugural Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors of IntermediaryEd, the provisional name for a new philanthropy that will aim to expand opportunities for people to thrive in uplifting careers, is pleased to announce that Rachel Korberg will join as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer.
“I am honored to join IntermediaryEd,” said Ms. Korberg. “The world of work is changing rapidly, and people across the country are hungry for career opportunities that unlock their talent, provide dignity and belonging, and enable them to support themselves and their families. Meanwhile, employers are eager for highly skilled and new talent. I look forward to partnering with IntermediaryEd’s Board of Directors to build a new philanthropic organization that will help to bring greater opportunities to millions of people.”
Ms. Korberg is a nationally recognized leader in philanthropy, U.S. workforce issues, and economic mobility. As co-founder and Executive Director of the Families and Workers Fund, a coalition of 20 major philanthropies, her work has helped more than 1.3 million workers and learners experience improved career pathways. Previously, she led major grantmaking portfolios at both the Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Foundation. Earlier, she served as a vice president at a boutique impact investment firm and worked in global and community development.
“The Board selected Rachel for her demonstrated ability to build cross-sector coalitions, her deep philanthropic expertise, and her commitment to building an enhanced future for workers and learners,” said Deb Delisle, Board Chair of IntermediaryEd. “The Board is excited that she is joining our team and is confident she will guide the organization with clarity, purpose, and impact from day one. Her track record of leadership and experience in building successful organizations and partnerships from the ground up makes her uniquely equipped to guide IntermediaryEd as we pursue scalable solutions and approaches to strengthen career pathways and community-based impact nationwide.”
Ms. Korberg, a former Presidential Leadership Scholar and New York Times Dealbook “Groundbreaker,” made history as the first woman elected as President of the Board of Directors of the Stonewall Community Foundation. Her work has been featured by New York Times, Washington Post, and Fortune, and she is regularly invited to speak about philanthropy and U.S. workforce issues at venues ranging from the United Nations and Yale University to the Federal Reserve and Aspen Institute.
Created from the sale of ACT, Inc. and now with assets exceeding $400 million, IntermediaryEd is preparing to publicly launch next year. Beginning on January 19, 2026, Ms. Korberg will join IntermediaryEd, where she will lead a collaborative process to set the foundation’s mission, vision, strategy, and operating structure, as well as recruit and develop a team. IntermediaryEd looks forward to investigating and investing in the most promising strategies for impact.
