From a storied
past to a new era:
Investigating the most promising strategies to impact individuals and communities.
Who We Are
IntermediaryEd, formerly known as ACT, Inc., has served educators and learners for the past 60 years by helping them fulfill their potential through improving college and career pathways. No longer an assessment company, IntermediaryEd currently is working to define its new direction. Our roots in reshaping education and the workplace will be essential in helping us determine our path forward and new mission—while still honoring the successes of our past.
Our country’s learners and workers face numerous challenges—and IntermediaryEd is working to target the optimal actions to remove these obstacles. As we chart our path forward, IntermediaryEd will investigate collaborating with diverse partners to promote effective solutions.
Our Mission
IntermediaryEd is embarking on a process to determine our mission, objectives, and strategy. Currently, our Board of Directors is evaluating the most promising tactics to achieve the greatest impact for individuals and communities.
We look forward to updating our partners and stakeholders on our progress as we determine the path forward.
Board of Directors
IntermediaryEd’s Board of Directors brings broad, diverse backgrounds and perspectives on education and workforce issues. These perspectives will play a vital role in shaping our future strategy and ensuring the best path for long-term impact and success.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of IntermediaryEd, provides general direction and guidance to the management team, and will play a key role in developing the organization’s mission and vision.

Previously, Rachel served at the Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Foundation where she led grantmaking portfolios focused on the future of work, tech innovation, and economic opportunity. She also advised executive leaders on new directions in strategy and stood up special initiatives and partnerships, including a new, major coalition of Fortune 500 companies and a collaboration between two philanthropies that drove millions of dollars in grantmaking to community-based nonprofits. Earlier, she worked in impact investing and global development/humanitarian response throughout East and West Africa, as well as Central Asia.
Rachel’s insights have been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Fortune.
